WE HAD PUPPIES! And there was a surprise!!! 8! And it looks like Lexi! As far as I can tell the only boy is blue fawn with some white. We have an array if colors! Black, Black and white, Two blue, A few brownish black fawn(think ill look better later) A brown and white. We are so blessed! It went very smooth! My husband is great! Afina did great! This is just here if anyone else might need ideas! Im no vet but I have had greyhounds for 4 years and Id say tummy issues you will experience one way or another at some time. So this is our life the past two days with Afina! She had a UTI and was on amoxicillin which we stopped via vet advice 4 days after due to she stopped eating anything and everything. She wanted to eat though! Nothing seems appealing. She would eat some dehydrated chicken before but the vet worries the puppies need the vitamins in the kibble and more food than that. And after that day she wouldnt even eat treats. Vet did ultrasound saw 5-6 healthy sacks and beating hearts. She gave me 2 cans of high protein wet vet food she ate on my finger. So what i found out from finger feeding is she will eat mush on a spoon but not herself and its just easier and less messy on a baby spoon. I blend a cup of dog kibble, bone broth, white rice, steamed chicken, and pumpkin. I feed her vet probiotics you can get at chewy I just sprinkle on food and to finish off her UTI that was pretty much almost gone is dog cranberry supplement in am and pm. I feed her this blend pretty much every 2 hours from 8-7pm if she starts spitting it out I stop. She will eat quite a bit and I always try ti get her to eat on her own first. Its hard to explain I can tell she wants it but wont. Because she is limited on things she can take due to get pregnancy just doing what we can. This is all due to the meds. Even though shes stopped them it takes a few days to wear off! I notice in even shes more inclined to eat on her own but really just treats. Anyways I hope my experience helps someone who may need it! I love my dog. And this isnt forcing her to eat cuz she swallows it. She keeps it down. She did have loose stool a few days but now its fine. Shes not playing or walking as much but shes not lethargic. If she was vomiting or lethargic back to vet. My purchase of a well bred purebred dog is not going to cause an increase in the number of dogs in the shelter.
My desire to have a dog with a predictable temperament from a healthy line does not result in another dog in the shelter not getting adopted.
My careful research on the most responsible breeders who meet all requirements is not the problem. That's not what you should be upset about.
It's not what you should blame.
I’m not the one who brought these dogs into this world irresponsibly and left them in a shelter.
Responsible breeders are not the ones taking these dogs to animal shelters either.
It's my home, my life and my choice what kind of dog I want to bring in. Maybe I need a working dog, sports dog, show dog, or just a companion dog of a specific breed that suits me best.
No matter what reason I choose to support a serious breeder, it will not put an animal protection dog to death.
A breeder who has health tests, temperament tests and pedigree for his dog is not contributing to the number of stray dogs.
The number of stray dogs in the world is a problem, but it is not a problem made worse by serious breeders and those who buy from them.
